Kill Hannah New Heart For Xmas 9 at HOB Chicago~Review
For the most part of December, I suffered a profound lack of Christmas spirit with the holiday now being shoved down our throats as early as Halloween, but I have to admit that getting to shoot Kill Hannah at The House Of Blues in Chicago rekindled a feeling I thought was long since dead. I can honestly say that I wasn’t a HUGE fan of the band. With that, I mean that I liked their music well enough, but wasn’t really versed in their catalog like a true fan. Kill Hannah made me a believer. The energy the band has on stage for a band that’s been around since 1996 is infectious, energetic, inspirational and audience inclusive. With hits like Believe and Lips Like Morphine, it was easy to spot Kill Hannah’s die hard fans in the audience. Local to Chicago, Kill Hannah still has the hearts of Chicagoans and kept the Christmas spirit going with a cover of Do They Know It’s Christmas? where you could easily sense the generation gap by seeing who knew the lyrics. Seeing as how it’s still one of my favorite Christmas songs of all time, I did. That particular lyric theory was further tested with a later performance of the David Bowie/ Freddie Mercury hit Under Pressure. I love when bands appreciate who came before them and do legends justice. The show was a helluva lot of fun and just what this blogger needed. The after party at Debonair Social Club was a further bonus and gave me the opportunity to chat with them for a hot second and thank them personally. Kill Hannah, ya got a new fan in Lady~A and for those of your reading this, you should check them out too if you haven’t already. Keep on rockin’ in the free world!
